Of The Real and Magnificent
November 5 - January 9, 2016
LaCa Projects hosts Cuban artist Vicente Hernández for his first solo exhibition in Charlotte, featuring his fantastical paintings that weave magnificent stories of escape rife with struggle and triumph, the real and the imaginary, the sadness of departure and the excitement of the journey. Hernández, a highly accomplished, internationally acclaimed artist, is also in residence at the McColl Center for Art & Innovation. This exhibition and his residency mark a strong and historical collaboration with the Center, and is designed to build the region’s cultural relevancy in the arts while exposing the community to contemporary, highly-skilled Latin American artists.
January 14 - March, 2016
Art is a mirror of the intangible; the intangible is the metaphysical reality—what we cannot see with our eyes.
Soulcatcher is an attempt to capture the invisible dimension of the reality and explores the hidden dynamic of the universe. Through his lens, Estévez masterfully helps us discover the innermost depths of our world.

Supporting the broader community through artistic and cultural programming is an integral part of LaCa Projects’ vision. Throughout the year, LaCa partners with arts, creative-based, and related organizations to offer dynamic community events and programs that raise critical awareness, create much-needed cross-cultural dialogue, and build exposure for artists and for important causes. To learn more about our upcoming events and programs that support the community, please visit our Facebook page.
With more than 8,000 square feet, LaCa Projects offers a unique backdrop and space like no other in Charlotte for private events, whether a corporate reception, wedding, or intimate gathering with friends. In addition to our spacious gallery and adjoining renovated warehouse, LaCa Projects offers event staffing, a number of amenities, and a preferred catering list to ensure our clients have an excellent and memorable experience.
Adjacent to the gallery are three spacious studios, where Latin American artists rent studio space on a monthly basis. LaCa’s studio artists interact with one another, provide artistic programs and access to the broader community, and enjoy a number of resources, including heightened exposure for their work. This creates an environment of inclusivity and direct access to artists and artistic conversations—an opportunity that is often lost in a traditional gallery setting. Laca’s studio artists are considered partners in LaCa’s vision, and bring a strong sense of community and artistic energy to the gallery.
