Santiago Quesnel: Repetitions
June 9 - September 2
LaCa Projects proudly presents Repetitions, a solo exhibition featuring works by Argentine artist Santiago Quesnel. This is Quesnel’s second solo show at LaCa Projects.
Repetitions is a name that honors Quesnel’s intention to create mutations and variations of the same mental image, resulting in an examination of non-traditional landscapes generated from the intersection of record, experience, and memory. While the ethereal scenes might initially appear conventional, a discovery occurs—a burst of color in an otherwise subdued palette, an object that seems out of place, or subtle traces of human inhabitance, or perhaps, interference.
Eduardo Cardozo: The Other Side
September 8 - November 5
The Other Side features two series within Cardozo’s graceful approach to painting, in some cases abstract nature, scenes with compositions forged through complex layers and with an often-weathered appearance, and some purely abstract.
The muted lines, forms, and colors give the viewer an uncanny sense of connection with each works’ narrative, as if the painting itself is offering a familiar experience. The abstract series alludes to traces left behind after human interaction; layer upon layer, producing a depth without perspective.
CONTEXT Miami - www.contextnyfair.com
November 29 - December 4, 2016
LaCa Projects is proud to participate in CONTEXT Art Miami 2016, sister fair to Art Miami and running during Art Basel Miami week in December. Dedicated to the development and reinforcement of emerging and mid-career artists, CONTEXT was launched in 2012 and offers an open atmosphere, creating a meaningful dialogue between artists, galleries and collectors while providing the ultimate platform for the presentation of mid-career, emergent and cutting-edge talent.
LaCa artists featured will include Juan Dolhare (Argentina), Carlos Estévez (Cuba), and Santiago Quesnel (Argentina).
Supporting the broader community through artistic and cultural programming is an integral part of LaCa Projects’ vision. Throughout the year, LaCa partners with arts, creative-based, and related organizations to offer dynamic community events and programs that raise critical awareness, create much-needed cross-cultural dialogue, and build exposure for artists and for important causes. To learn more about our upcoming events and programs that support the community, please visit our Facebook page.
With more than 9,000 square feet, LaCa Projects offers a unique backdrop and space like no other in Charlotte for private events, whether a corporate reception, wedding, or intimate gathering with friends. In addition to our spacious gallery and adjoining renovated warehouse, LaCa Projects offers event staffing, a number of amenities, and a preferred catering list to ensure our clients have an excellent and memorable experience.
Please click here for a PDF version of our Events Rental Package, which includes more information on our rental rates, guidelines, preferring catering lists, and more. To book space, please contact Christina Houlihan at email@example.com or call 704.837.1688.
Adjacent to the gallery are three spacious studios, where Latin American artists rent studio space on a monthly basis. LaCa’s studio artists interact with one another, provide artistic programs and access to the broader community, and enjoy a number of resources, including heightened exposure for their work. This creates an environment of inclusivity and direct access to artists and artistic conversations—an opportunity that is often lost in a traditional gallery setting. LaCa’s studio artists are considered partners in LaCa’s vision, and bring a strong sense of community and artistic energy to the gallery.
