Work by studio artists Luis Ardila (Colombia) and Rosalia Torres-Weiner (Mexico) will also be debuted for the first time and featured in Collective II.
Santiago Quesnel: Repetitions
June 9 - September 2
LaCa Projects proudly presents Repetitions, a solo exhibition featuring works by Argentine artist Santiago Quesnel. This is Quesnel’s second solo show at LaCa Projects.
Repetitions is a name that honors Quesnel’s intention to create mutations and variations of the same mental image, resulting in an examination of non-traditional landscapes generated from the intersection of record, experience, and memory. While the ethereal scenes might initially appear conventional, a discovery occurs—a burst of color in an otherwise subdued palette, an object that seems out of place, or subtle traces of human inhabitance, or perhaps, interference.
CONTEXT New York - www.contextnyfair.com
May 3-8, 2016
Latin American Contemporary Art (LaCa) Projects participated at the inaugural edition of CONTEXT New York 2016, that took place May 3 – 8 in Manhattan. The fair joined Art New York at Pier 94, located on the Hudson River at 12th Avenue and 55th Street.
Like its hugely successful sister fair, CONTEXT Art Miami, which launched during Miami Art Week in 2012, CONTEXT New York’s open atmosphere helped create meaningful dialogue between collectors, participating galleries, and artists during one of the most important weeks for contemporary art.
Supporting the broader community through artistic and cultural programming is an integral part of LaCa Projects’ vision. Throughout the year, LaCa partners with arts, creative-based, and related organizations to offer dynamic community events and programs that raise critical awareness, create much-needed cross-cultural dialogue, and build exposure for artists and for important causes. To learn more about our upcoming events and programs that support the community, please visit our Facebook page.
With more than 9,000 square feet, LaCa Projects offers a unique backdrop and space like no other in Charlotte for private events, whether a corporate reception, wedding, or intimate gathering with friends. In addition to our spacious gallery and adjoining renovated warehouse, LaCa Projects offers event staffing, a number of amenities, and a preferred catering list to ensure our clients have an excellent and memorable experience.
Please click here for a PDF version of our Events Rental Package, which includes more information on our rental rates, guidelines, preferring catering lists, and more. To book space, please contact Christina Houlihan at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 704.837.1688.
Adjacent to the gallery are three spacious studios, where Latin American artists rent studio space on a monthly basis. LaCa’s studio artists interact with one another, provide artistic programs and access to the broader community, and enjoy a number of resources, including heightened exposure for their work. This creates an environment of inclusivity and direct access to artists and artistic conversations—an opportunity that is often lost in a traditional gallery setting. LaCa’s studio artists are considered partners in LaCa’s vision, and bring a strong sense of community and artistic energy to the gallery.
