Press Release

Charlotte, North Carolina – Latin American Contemporary Art (LaCa) Projects presents SPECULATIV, an exhibition of new work by Argentinian artist Juan Dolhare. This will be the artist’s third solo exhibition with the gallery.

Juan Dolhare creates systems that abandon the inherent nature of objects, rendering them adrift and void of meaning. Evoking a marked calmness, Dolhare’s careful precision resembles the exactness of a computer-generated image, honoring fractal patterns found in the natural environment. The insertion of perfectly straight lines and objects resembling contemporary functionality not found in nature offer a dichotomous dialogue to depict a surrealistic, fossilized world —one that strikes an almost-eerie sense of peace and balance. Further, the organization of these objects in ambiguous environments lead to a questioning of their meaning and their status as a sacred material good.

This new body of work will make its debut in Charlotte immediately following its presentation at Galeria Revolver in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

A public opening celebration with the artist will take place at LaCa Projects on Thursday, September 13, from 6-8pm. Furthermore, Juan Dolhare will be staying in Charlotte this fall, where he will be completing his artist residency at the McColl Center for Art + Innovation from August 27 - December 4, 2018.
