Biography

My work is the result of a process that begins with the collection and classification of images pulled from magazines onto paper. The magazines can be old or current. What I’m attempting to highlight is the messaging received by women of being tame and docile in the 1950’s. A message promoted via propaganda disguised as advertising. The images become part of an archive that I later use to assemble collages, which are scanned and juxtaposed with another layer of images, also archived, only now digitized.

The result of such a process, which includes the collecting, the cutting, archiving, as well as the digital juxtaposition, is a two layer composition. A double image that in finality produces what is decanted as a work of art, mostly pictorial, and usually oil on canvas.
